Aftermath Entertainment is a record label, specializing in hip hop music, founded by Dr. Dre in 1996, after his having broken ties with Death Row Records. Aftermath operates as a subsidiary of, and is distributed through, Universal Music Group's Interscope Records. When rap producer Dr. Dre left powerhouse label, Death Row Records in 1996, he quickly established Aftermath Entertainment. Interscope Records help distribute the compilation album, Dr. Dre Presents…The Aftermath, in 1996. Numerous artists who were joined Aftermath in the past were Dawn Robinson, former vocalist of En Vouge and Nas' supergroup The Firm. After The Firm disbanded, Dr. Dre sought the advice of Jimmy Iovine to sign Detroit-based rapper Eminem to release The Slim Shady LP in 1999. Proven to the most successful album release under Aftermath Entertainment, it became one of the driving forces in hip-hop. Dr. Dre also help pioneer the success of Eminem's protege 50 Cent. These rappers are the most successful of Aftermath Entertainment. D12 (aka The Dirty Dozen and D-Twizzy) is an American hip-hop group originating from Detroit, Michigan and Highland Park, Michigan which have had albums reach the top of the U.S., UK and Australian album charts — Devil's Night in 2001 and D12 World in 2004. D12 was formed in 1990, but only achieved mainstream success when their most accomplished member, Eminem, had risen to international fame and notoriety, although D12 had been a powerful force in the underground rap scene for several years prior. Proof formed D12 as a rap collective of local Detroit MCs including Bizarre, Eminem, Eye Kyu, Killa Hawk and Fuzz. Charging Soldier was in the group briefly, but was kicked out due to arguments with other members. The group was a loose collective in the vein of Wu-Tang Clan. Several members began making names for themselves in hip hop during the late 1990s. Bizarre was named Inner City Entertainment's "Flava of the Week". He would also release an album entitled Attack Of The Weirdos and become a member of The Outsidaz with Eminem, Rah Digga and Young Zee. Proof won a freestyling competition run by The Source in 1998. Before the group had any success, Killa Hawk, Fuzz and Eye Kyu would all leave the group due to various reasons, leaving only three official members: Eminem, Proof and Bizarre. Proof was set to find other local rappers to join the group, he managed to get his friend Bugz to join the group. To round up the last two members Proof gathered a local Detroit hip hop duo Da Brigade to join. Da Brigade featured longtime Eminem and Proof friend Kon Artis, who also collaborated with Eminem on the Slim Shady EP. The other half of Da Brigade was formed by local emcee Kuniva. After all six members were established, the group made a pact that the first member to achieve solo success would come back for the others.

He began rapping at the age of 11, and had a number of underground hits such as "Respect", "My Club", "Dope Jobs Homeless", and "The Well Known Asshole" before he signed to Shady Records in 2000. As an acquaintance of D12 member Bizarre, Obie was signed after a personal introduction to Eminem allowed him to impress the Detroit rap legend in-person. His original and still current manager is the infamous Samuel J Stewart. The general public was first introduced to Obie on D12's Devil's Night album on a skit. His one-line opener[1] on Eminem's lead single, "Without Me", off the critically-acclaimed and commercially successful The Eminem Show increased public awareness of his name and slogan. Obie also appeared in the video for the song, body-slamming a dummy representing Moby. Appearances on DJ Green Lantern's official Shady Records Invasion mixtape series, allowed him to further his public recognition.
